PARTICIPATION INSTRUCTIONS

You can participate by regular mail or on-line via Photo Life’s Web site at www.photolife.com (all pertinent instructions
for on-line submissions You can also participate using the on-line facility (high-speed Internet connection highly recommended), for more information, click here

PRINTS Traditional or digital, black and white or colour. Print size: 5 x 7” min. to 8 1⁄2 x 11” max. If submitting digital
prints, high-resolution files (2700 x 3600 pixels) on CD are also required, along with the prints. On a type-written
sheet, firmly fixed to the back of each submitted print, the following must be indicated: 1) Category entered; 2) Image
title; 3) Name, complete mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address. Please note: Images not adhering to
contest rules and submission instructions will not be judged and entry fees will be forfeit.

ENTRY FEES AND OFFICIAL PARTICIPATION FORM Entry fees are $15 per

Official Participation Form for up to 10 prints in any or all categories.
A separate additional Official Participation Form with accompanying $15 entry fee must be provided for every quantity of up to 10 prints submitted (example: if submitting 27 prints, you must send in three Official Participation Forms—two for 10 prints each and one for 7 prints—and three times $15, for a total of $45). You may submit as many prints as you wish. Photocopies of the Official Participation Form or printed copies of the form, available at the Photo Life Web site (www.photolife.com), are welcome. Entry fees are payable by cheque (Canadian residents only), money order, bank draft (in Canadian or US funds only), or credit card (Visa and MasterCard) to Apex Publications Inc.

SELF-ADDRESSED RETURN ENVELOPE WITH SUFFICIENT POSTAGE If you want your images returned, you must include, in your submission, a self-addressed pre-stamped envelope (S.A.S.E.) large enough to contain your images. Stamps from countries other than Canada cannot be used when mailing from Canada; for submissions from outside Canada, please include international postage coupons totalling an amount sufficient to cover return postage costs. All photographs submitted with a pre-stamped or postage-paid S.A.S.E. large enough to contain images will be returned within 60 days of publication of the special contest issue (March). Return of images is done exclusively by mail; they may not be retrieved in person. Photographs submitted without a S.A.S.E. large enough to contain submitted images or with insufficient postage for return will not be returned, and provided postage will be forfeit. All contestants for whom this is the case and who want their images returned are required to contact Apex Publications Inc. to make
proper arrangements by June 1, 2010, after which date, submitted images become the property of Apex Publications
Inc. Take note that Apex Publications Inc. will not contact contestants in such cases.


RULES AND REGULATIONS
ELIGIBILITY: The Image International 2009 photo contest is sponsored by Cruise North Expeditions Inc., DayMen Photo Marketing LP
(Datacolor, Giottos, Hoya, Joby, Lowepro, PocketWizard, Sekonic), DxO Labs, Epson Canada Ltd., First Air, Gentec International (iQ
Digital Picture Frame, SanDisk, Sigma), Sony of Canada, and Webbsight Imaging Peripherals (QuickPro). The contest is conducted by
Apex Publications Inc., publisher of Photo Life and Photo Solution magazines. It is open to anyone 16 years of age or older, with the
exception of all employees of Apex Publications Inc. and of sponsoring firms and their immediate families, and of any person or group
of persons having had an article and/or images published in Photo Life and/or Photo Solution, other than in contests, Readers’ Gallery,
Spotlight, or Emerging Photographers, within the 12 months preceding the contest deadline of September 30, 2009. All participants
are eligible to win one prize per category, or the Grand Prize.
JUDGING: A panel of judges will select the winning entries on November 21, 2009, in Quebec City, Canada. The judges’ decision will
be final.
JUDGING CRITERIA: Originality, relevance to theme, composition, lighting, and technical quality, including print quality if submitting
by mail.
DESIGNATION OF WINNERS: Winners will be notified of their win, in writing and within 30 days of judging, either by mail or e-mail.
Please do not enquire about the status of your submission. Winning images will be published in the March 2010 issues of Photo Life
and of Photo Solution magazines, available on newsstands as of the beginning of February 2010.
PUBLICATION RIGHTS: Apex Publications Inc. reserves publication rights of winning images in its magazines (including
covers) and electronic media, as well as for possible use in future Image International promotional material.
CLAIM OF OWNERSHIP AND MODEL RELEASES: Contestants must own all rights to the works submitted and are solely responsible
for obtaining model releases, when applicable. As such, contestants hold the publisher and contest sponsors harmless from any breech
of copyright in Canada, the USA, and elsewhere and from consequential litigation.
RESPONSIBILITY: Special care is taken in the handling of all entries. However, Apex Publications Inc. and sponsors cannot be held
liable for loss, damage, or delays that may occur during digital transfer, transportation, judging, or return of images.
ACCEPTANCE OF RULES: Participation in the contest indicates complete acceptance of the contest rules set forth herein.
CONTESTATION: Any litigation regarding the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted by a resident of Québec
to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation regarding the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the
Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.

PRIZES AND DELIVERY: All prizes will be shipped within 90 days of contest judging through Canada Post to those addresses provided by contest winners on their Official Participation Form(s) and will include only those delivery guarantees provided by Canada Post. Where applicable, duty and customs fees will be the responsibility of prize recipients. Featured prize values in the Prize List are suggested retail values, as provided by prize sponsors. Prizes are subject to substitution by products of equal or greater value without notice. Please note that some of the prizes are not available for all camera or lens models.
